Description: This eucalyptus tree is medium size when young, has blue and heart shaped leaves. When crushed, its thick broad leaves release a strong aroma of peppermint, hence its common name of ‘Broad-leaved Peppermint’. Rich in piperitone (53%) it is a ketone known to have strong anti-asthmatic and herbicidal properties.
The essential oil contains piperitone, phellandrene, camphene, cymene, terpinene, and thujene, among others. A powerful remedy against infections of the lower respiratory tract - bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, but avoid direct inhalation. The oil is centering, calming, causing you to breathe deeply and forcing the bronchioles to dilate.
Some aromatherapy uses are for: general colds and chest infections to burn in a room or used as a steam inhalation, sports injuries, muscular aches & pains.
